BRAVE F1 hero David Coulthard smiles on a live TV cookery show yesterday — moments after learning of his sister’s sudden death.
The retired race ace, 41, was told the news about his beloved sibling Lynsay Jackson as he prepared to appear on BBC show Saturday Kitchen Live.
Producers told him he could drop out, but he decided to hide his grief and went on to laugh and joke with host James Martin throughout the 90-minute programme.
Minutes after the credits rolled, Coulthard rushed from the London studio to south west Scotland, where friends and family had gathered to comfort Lynsay’s hubby Will.
Mum-of-one Lynsay, 35, was found dead in the early hours of yesterday at the couple’s home in Crossmichael, Kirkudbrightshire.
Cops believe she died after a sudden unexpected illness.
Coulthard’s agent James Williamson said: “David heard just before he went on air.
“But amid the shock, he wanted to put on a brave face and just get the show done.
“It wasn’t fun watching because I knew how much he was hurting.”
Coulthard, now a TV pundit, was among guests as Lynsay wed environmental health officer Will, 34, in 2011. The pair had a daughter last year.
Parents Joyce, 65, and Duncan, 67, learned of the tragedy while away in Australia and were flying home to Scotland last night.
Police are investigating Lynsay’s death, but a spokeswoman said last night: “The circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.”
