A WOMAN who shed a mountain of weight has got herself pregnant — just to have a free tummy tuck on the NHS.

Siobhan Leighton, who has slimmed down from a colossal 22st to 10st, wants the op to get rid of unsightly flabby skin on her 5ft 2in frame.

The jobless 29-year-old admits she is only having a baby in the hope of getting the op for nothing.

And she is considering putting the child up for adoption as soon as it is born.

Siobhan, whose partner has left her, said at her home in Glasgow: “It’s a terrible choice.

"I know vanity is not a reason to have a child but I am desperate.

“My body’s disgusting — my saggy belly hangs down to my thighs. Once I’ve had a tummy tuck I’ll feel so much better.

“Having a kid to get the body I want seemed like an easy decision to make — but pregnancy is harder than I thought.”

Siobhan hit on the tummy tuck plan after an NHS psychologist explained they were rarely given to young women without children because of the complications the procedure can cause in pregnancy.

She said: “I spoke to a specialist who confirmed the NHS is more likely to approve a tummy tuck if you’ve finished having children.

“As soon as they started explaining that having the surgery and then getting pregnant could be dangerous and run risks of ruining their work, I made my decision.

“They didn’t suggest I have kids but I thought, ‘I could just have a baby now’.

“My partner at the time and I agreed to start trying and six months later I took a positive pregnancy test.

“I haven’t made any plans for the birth but I have contemplated putting her up for adoption if I can’t give her the life she deserves.”

Siobhan, who lives on £70 a week unemployment support allowance and housing benefits, is unrepentant at the idea of getting a toned stomach at taxpayers’ expense.

She hopes to have the op — which she believes would cost around £5,000 — within the next 11 months.
