This is the moment detectives swooped to make their first arrest in the alleged VIP paedophile scandalthe Sunday People reports.
Using a walking stick and wearing slippers, a scruffy blue anorak and baggy grey trousers, John Stingemore – former deputy head of Grafton Close children’s home – was escorted from his East Sussex flat.
Cops from the Met Police’s Operation Fernbridge – which is investigating allegations of child abuse – emerged carrying a bin liner possibly containing documents and another smaller bag of medicine.
Stingemore was taken to a central London police station for questioning and has been bailed until April.
A Catholic priest also arrested on Wednesday and bailed in connection with alleged abuse at Elm Guest House was named as 66-year-old Tony McSweeney, from Norfolk.
He has voluntarily resigned as a governor at the Notre Dame High School in Norwich.
